Patricia Capello Candidate for City Commissioner |
|
From Patricia Capello I was privileged and proud to serve the City of Royal Oak as a City Commissioner from 2004-2007. During this time period, we tackled many issues – the growing budget deficit, unsettled contracts, a water fund shortage, past failures to contribute to the retirement fund - and we did it all without any layoffs. Yes, there were some minor cuts to service levels, but most people tolerated these changes well. I am proud of these accomplishments but there is still so much to do. Costs continue to rise while income falls. New revenue sources are difficult, if not impossible to find, and more cutbacks appear to be inevitable. We need people with strong skills to attack these problems. We need people who know how to work as part of a team – a team who will work together to focus on important issues, not on petty personal ones.
My goals are simple: - Keep our neighborhoods strong. They are the backbone of this community. - Support and maintain a thriving downtown life. - Safeguard our public services and still keep our community affordable. - Build partnerships with the employees and with each other. - Restore professionalism and dignity to the City Commission. - Our City Commission should be a source of pride for all of us. With your vote and support, I will help bring professionalism back to the City Commission table.
