After each local election Royal Oak's mayor and commissioners volunteer or are assigned to serve on one or more city panels: committee, commission, board, foundation. The following assignments were approved at the 21 December 2009 CITCOM meeting.

NOTE: Resident-volunteers serving on these panels have reported varying experiences working with elected officials. The officials have been found helpful, ineffective, cooperative, obstructionist, domineering, and uninterested. VersagiVoice has sampled several of these panels and for the most part found that the elected officials don't attempt to pull rank on the volunteers.
