Exchange of correspondence between DDA and
City Hall
Tom,
At last night’s Consumer Marketing Committee, the Committee passed the following
resolution by a two to one vote:
That the CMC recommends to the City Manager, Tom Hoover that WROK’s emcees for
the Holiday Magic Parade not be
a City Commissioner, however if a City
Commissioner is participating that a DDA Board Member be chosen as a
co-host/emcee.

Emcee-Parade
DDA Consumer Marketing Committee,
I am in receipt of the Resolution forwarded to me by Tim Thwing attached below.
The broadcast of the parade is performed
by WROK, the Government Access Channel.
WROK operates under contract with the City of Royal Oak. It is my
understanding
that they have utilized Carlo Ginotti and Pat Capello in their past parade
broadcasts. This has been their
choice and I did not participate in that
decision. There is no policy set for how our contractor WROK chooses the emcees.
I have no intention of changing that practice unless a majority of the City
Commission would like to set a new policy. They
have not requested to do so. I
therefore must respectfully reject the request in your Resolution.
Sincerely,
Thomas R. Hoover, ICMA CM
